Welcome to Sapporo Minami Evangelical Christ Church!

ABOUT US

We are a protestant Christian church and were initially founded by OMF missionaries, William Fearnehough and his wife, Sheila in 1976. We belong to Japan Evangelical Christ Church Association (JECA). God has called us to be a holy and loving church that brings the joy of the Gospel to our neighborhoods, Minami-ku in Sapporo City.

Pastor Takashi Funatogawa, known as Tak by his oversea friends, was installed as a senior pastor of our church since October 2015, having been passed on the leadership baton from the previous senior pastor, Pastor Yasuji Honda.

Pastor Tak graduated from East Asia School of Theology in Singapore in May 2015. As his profession, he holds a TESOL certificate and used to teach English to Spanish and Asian students in California, US and Japanese elementary school students in Kanagawa, Japan. He and his wife, Suzuko serve together at Minami church as a pastoral team hand in hand now. They are blessed with a daughter with Down Syndrome whom they adopted and named Seira.

Currently, we do not offer any English service but the same sermon preached in our main Japanese service will be available for viewing in English on the church Youtube channel on Sundays from 8am onwards. If you would like to attend the Japanese service and require an English translation please contact us in advance so we can have a translator available for you.
